Are you looking for a new career in the insurance industry? Or, are you an experienced agent looking to rejuvenate your career? If so, ask yourself these questions to see if our companies would be a good fit for you.
Do You Love Helping Others? – If your sole reason entering the industry is to make money, you may need to look into another career choice. Successful representatives are successful because of their desire to help people.
Can You Handle Rejection Well? –Sales and rejection go hand-in-hand. Why? Well, there are a number of reasons, since money is a touchy subject with a lot of people. But the key is to not take the rejection personally. Successful agents rise above the rejection.
Are You “Coachable”? - This means you need to be able to take instruction, constructive criticism, and suggestions from someone (i.e. - mentor, supervisor, and colleague).
Are You An Effective Communicator? – You should be able to address client concerns, find products that meet their needs and explain it all to them in laymen’s terms. In other words, you must educate the client.
Can You Market Yourself? – Clients will be doing business with you, even if you work for a company. Good marketing skills that showcase why clients should do business with you are a must.
Do You Set Goals (and reach them)? – Although financially and personally rewarding, this industry can be financially and personally draining. That’s why you need goals. Goals are like the roadmap of your career. They tell you “where you’re headed”. Successful agents set goals to keep them on track and focused.
Are You Systematic? – Systems can greatly improve every aspect of your business. Successful representatives have systems in place for everything from how to find clients, how to follow-up with clients, renewal notices and updates, customer service, cash flow, sales volume, etc.
Do You Love Learning? - Continuing education may be a state requirement for you to keep your license, but that’s usually a “bare minimum”. You should continue to grow professionally. Successful agents join organizations and networks, attend workshops, conferences, and seminars, and perform other activities to stay current in their field.
